HIKR 2000

Just made it into the small town of Caratunk today. Luckily I'm staying some place dry as the rain is pelting down here.

Maine continues to be a great hike. I've seen two moose...at once..in the same pond. That was pretty amazing. The terrain, while still rocky and rooty, is still very beautiful. I think it's the remoteness of the area. The lakes and ponds are untouched by any kind of civilization. It's nice to look across a huge lake and not see any boats or docks or houses.

In other news, we just passed the 2000 mile mark as of yesterday. A very nice milestone. I feel like I've walked 2000 miles. I can't wait until I can walk in the morning without hobbling (hopefully).

I've got some pictures, but this computer is locked away inside a shelf or something. So those will have to wait. I only have one more town stop after this, then it's onto Katahdin. Hopefully, I can update this thing before then, but if not, see you on the other side!

You are almost there!! Congrats!!! So Darryl said we have tons to do here...we'd love for you to come back! Good luck on the last of your trails. Loved reading your blog! You should be so proud of accomplishing this hike! I could never do it.

We may be skipping Caratunk - prolly so, trying to at least if the rain doesn't drive us in. Hurricane Ike may have something up his sleeve for Maine even. Great to hear you are doing good and still going strong. We don't expect the hiker hobble to go away anytime soon after returning to the world of showers, beds, floors, coffee makers and such.

as much as it's nice for you to have nearly completed a once-or-maybe-twice-if-the-mood-really-strikes-you-in-a-lifetime journey of physical domination over nature, i think you should really be more considerate of your readers, who will soon have nothing look at on the internet. give the people what they need, The Long Shot, stretch those last 175 miles! think of the children!
also, godspeed.
